Question by fifitrixie: Hong Kong Accommodation?
I’ve asked a question before on Hong Kong and got some excellent answers fo things to do but now i’m looking for hotels but am a bit ‘wowed’ i guess by the choice there.
Does anyone recommend a hotel actually on Hong Kong island to stay? I stayed in ya mei tei last time and maybe i should look for something more central next time.
Thanks!
edited to add.. my budget will be around £50-£60 pounds per night.. if that helps!

If you are on a tight budget then you could stay at the Ibis hotel on Hong Kong Island that is very reasonably prices. I stayed at the cosmopolitan hotel in Wan Chai on Hong Kong. It is in a quiet location across from the racecourse and just minutes from all the main shopping and siteseeing areas. For good prices on all classes of hotels go to AsiaRooms.com. Hotels of all classes give rooms to this site to fill at discount prices.
the excelsior
park lane
marco polo
Hey, i stayed in Yau Ma Tei too
Zuji would be a good website to check – they’ve got it simplified!
Hotels on HK island aren’t that bad, especially those like Inter-Continental, which face the Victoria Harbour. The view’s definitely worth the money.
If planning for more budget lodgings, you can try YMCA too, which is near the convention centre
Have fun in HK!
The more central you live, the higher room rent you paid. Tell me your budget and I will suggest which hotel would suit you.
It’s a tough one, you give no budget, I have been there twice, once on the mainland at Miradore Mansion is the Cosmic Guest house which was about £10 a night. One the island is the Ritz Carlton which is luxury.
Best idea is get the Lonely Planet book and read it and pick several places and just go for it
I really like the Rosedale on the Park – close to Times Square and shopping. Very clean, friendly and wired.

I book through local (HKG) travel agent and get better rates.
I also stayed at Novotel Century (more expensive) and Island Pacific – bit out of the way.
My friend stayed at the Charterhouse and really liked it.
I stayed at the South Pacific Hotel in Wan Chai. It is convenient and close to both Causeway Bay and Wan Chai. Within walking distance to Times Square and Sogo where all the shops are. The hotel rooms are clean and new as they had renovation 3/4yrs back. There’s a lounge on the top floor of the hotel which was great when there’s a firework show during New Year’s eve. In my own opinion, much cleaner and better than Charterhouse.
Check out http://www.asiarooms.com, look at the Wharney in Wanchai.
YMCA International at Waterloo Road, walking distance to MTR station.
yes
I usually stay in the Excelsior or the Park Lane. These are both in Causeway Bay. The Cosmopoliton next to the racecourse is pretty good too.
